Last weeked was the 44th edition of the Baja 1000 race and we decided this was a good chance to take our Vanagon on it's first trip out of the city, we been dealing with a few minor issues but it felt like it was ready for a real test on the road.
So we packed up for a full day of off road watching in Ojos Negros just east of Ensenada.
Early morning all ready to go.
Setting up in Ojos Negros.

My old project featured on UK's Volkswagen Camper and Bus magazine.
This was my project #5 , a really nice '71 Chianti red bus I bought from a family here in San Diego. Originally this bus was purchased by a serviceman in Belgium then after his tour ended he shipped it back home to the United States. The bus came with all the registration cards dating back to 1972 and all from California. After a total restoration we decided to take this bus to the UK to attend Vanfest , the biggest VW bus gathering in the world , our intention was to travel around the UK , attend the show and sell it afterwards but the bus sold before we even got to the show. We made a deal with the buyer but we would deliver the bus after our travels ended. A little over a year later and after a few little problems were taken care off the bus was sold again to another UK family and now the bus is featured in this months edition of Camper and Bus magazine , here are pictures of the article.
This are some digital copies.
Here are some of my before and after pictures of this bus.
